Taurus TX22 Fiber Optic Sights: TandemKross Eagle Eye

The TandemKross Eagle Eye Fiber Optic Sight Set for the Taurus TX22 adds bright, adjustable TX22 fiber optic sights without needing batteries, dot brightness settings, or an optic plate.

The TX22 is a first purchase for a lot of shooters for a reason: it’s affordable (often under $300), light, and fun. That also means plenty of owners are perfectly happy with the factory setup. Still, if you’ve ever wanted brighter TX22 fiber optic sights, or you want an adjustable rear sight that’s easier to tune, these are a solid upgrade.

What You Get with TX22 Fiber Optic Sights

This is a front and rear fiber optic sight set. The front uses a green pipe, and the rear uses dual red pipes. Both are replaceable. The rear sight is fully adjustable for windage and elevation, and TandemKross includes the wrenches you need for installation and adjustment.

Weight: about 0.30 ounces for the set (light enough that it won’t change handling). The front sight sits slightly taller than factory, which can be helpful if you’re running a suppressor.

Compatibility: Read This Before You Buy

These sights are compatible with first gen Taurus TX22 and Taurus TX22 Competition models that use the large rear sight cut. If your slide has the narrow Glock-style rear sight cut, this set will not fit.

If you’re unsure, compare your rear sight cut to the product listing photos before ordering: Eagle Eye Fiber Optic Sight Set for TX22.

TX22 Fiber Optic Sights Build Quality

Like TandemKross’s other Eagle Eye sights, these are machined from aerospace-grade aluminum. I’ve run Eagle Eye sights on other platforms (including my Ruger PC Carbine), and durability hasn’t been a concern. The parts are nicely machined, cleanly finished, and free of rough edges.

The matte black anodizing looks good and holds up well. If you’re picky about glare, the serrations on the sights help, and the front also has grooves to reduce glare under overhead light.

The front sight uses a single green fiber optic pipe. The rear uses dual red fiber optic pipes. That color combo makes it easy to pick up the front sight quickly. The rear is adjustable with a small hex wrench for both windage and elevation. TandemKross also includes a drop-in peep sight option.

Installation of the Taurus TX22 Fiber Optic Sights

If you can field strip a TX22, you can install these at home. The front sight is retained by a screw from the underside of the slide. After clearing the pistol and removing the slide, I popped out the recoil assembly and barrel, which gave me access to the factory front sight screw. Installing the new front is just the reverse: insert the machine screw and brass washer from under the slide, thread into the sight base, align, and snug it down (don’t overtighten it). TandemKross includes a small wrench to help prevent over-torquing.

The factory rear sight is retained by a single center screw. Removing that allows the sight to slide out. Slide in the TandemKross rear sight, then tighten the screws in an alternating pattern to keep even pressure and maintain centering. As always, avoid over-tightening, but don’t leave it loose either.
